The Force of Collectibles: Two Rare Items That Made Waves on ShopGoodwill.com

In a galaxy not so far away, ShopGoodwill.com has been a haven for Star Wars Enthusiasts seeking to add rare and valuable collectibles to their collections. From vintage action figures to iconic memorabilia, the site has seen its fair share of remarkable items auctioned off to eager fans. We want to highlight two treasures that captured the hearts of bidders, and has raised over $37,000 for our mission and employment programs.

In Central Pennsylvania, on a normal day of the work week, one ShopGoodwill.com e-commerce employee found a rare, 14 karat gold Lego Bionicle mask in a bag of jewelry donated to the State College Goodwill Store that was then transferred to the ShopGoodwill.com warehouse in Du Bois. Although the Bionicle masks aren’t a part of the Star Wars franchise, according to the official Lego X page, the Bionicle “transmedia hit” was inspired by Star Wars. Not knowing how valuable the piece was until it was gaining high bidding traction on the site, the team decided to do a little more research and found that it was one of the 30 golden masks ever made back in 2001. The unique item received 48 bids and was sold for over $18,000 and the proceeds will be going to Goodwill North Central Pennsylvania’s local employment programs.

Not long after, Goodwill Ohio Valley received their own very rare Star Wars item. They listed two Vinyl Cape Jawas, and the bidding war began. These are an incredibly rare 1977 model, and was one of the earliest action figures produced for the franchise. Only a scarce amount were made since the vinyl material was fragile, and it ended up being replaced with cloth. This resulted in few vinyl being made, creating a rare collector’s item. The item ended up being sold for over $19,000, all proceeds will be going to Goodwill Ohio Valley Industries’ local employment programs that help individuals with disabilities, veterans and others across Greater Cincinnati.

ShopGoodwill.com thanks you for your donations, they truly make a difference in local communities across the nation. May the force be with you.
